Homestuck Prom 2013

Any advice to make an outfit more homestuck? I only have one dress-up dress that's green, so I was gonna go as Jade. My hair is already brown and I already wear glasses. I don't know how to make it look more Jade, rather than just me hanging out in a green dress.

Hm…You could try pinning one of Jade’s shirt symbols to your dress, or wearing it as a necklace or something. You could also use fake nails and a tutorial somewhere on tumblr to make buckteeth.

Since it’s masqueradestuck tonight, you could even whip up a quick Jade-esque mask out of thin cardboard and a mounting stick (so you wouldn’t have to trade it for your glasses). Round costume glasses are also pretty easy to find, or you could try wearing colourful rubber-bands or scrunchies on your fingers like Jade’s “reminders”.

Don’t know if you need this or not- i saw someone was having trouble with their timezone not being central (i think?) so didn’t know the exact time hs prom starts and one of your replies was that 6pm central was your midnight, so i searched and found this. pple who ask could use this to check your midnight against their timezone?

Not to my knowledge, no.

There were some people on the IRL blog who had shown interest in setting up a meetup in a few places in Texas, but I don’t know if they actually followed through with anything, sorry.

You’ll have to be more specific in the answer that you want me to give. I’m in England, so I’m running on a vastly different timezone than any of those in the states, or wherever you are.

It’s the 24th. The day we’ve all been waiting for. Today is the day of Homestuck Prom 2013. (Or at least, it is for a large number of people. The rest of you still have a few hours.)

We did it kids.

We climbed this whole mountain.

/Sniff/

Now all that’s left is to aggressively party the night away.

I’m looking forward to checking out all of the sick outfits you guys’ve put together, and partying with you guys over the course of the night!

So get ready to start sending your song requests, photos, chat links, etc. later tonight. Set up your Skypes and your Livestreams and Synaptops. Break out the prom dresses and makeup sealer. Let’s do it to it.

And most importantly, HAVE FUN, YOU GUYS.

This night has all of the potential to go down as radical, provided we all expend the effort, you dig? Shyness is killer, and it prevents people from doing shit they’d otherwise find enjoyable. Believe me, last year I spent the night trembling and huddled under a desk with a box of cinnamon toast crunch, and ended up missing out on a lot of the evening, which is a big reason I took on the role of blog moderator this year~ My point is that I don’t want any of you to make the same mistake, as I know how many of you are rather shy and awkward. It’s much easier to hide from things that make us uncomfortable, rather than deal with the reality of being really awkward and nervous and fucking up. But it’s no good to sit around working yourself into a panic when you could be having a gr8 time, to the max. So I lend you this kernel of advice, kids, throw yourselves headfirst into the deep end. Get into it. Y’know?

Over here in the Land of Eng it’s 4:47 in the morning on the actual day o’ prom, and with the passing of midnight came this sudden wave of new followers. And so to them, I say:

Howdy newbies~ You ready to party?

Don’t be discouraged if you’ve not got an entire, polished cosplay together. While those are definitely encouraged, and we love to see them, just seeing you all out in full force and making an effort to dress up is good enough here~

Plus, Mod R. can’t even figure out how to get his horns attached to his head, or put his makeup on properly, so don’t even worry about it. I have set a bar of inadequacy that none of you could ever hope to surpass~

None have been submitted as yet, as it’s not even really the wee hours of the morning as yet.

But rest assured, I’ll be posting sweet linxxx to all sorts of chatrooms on the blog intermittently, and there’ll be a sidebar link indexing them~

Basically, you guys create whatever chatrooms, tinychats, livestreams, Skype groups and Omegle tags you want. Just submit ‘em to the blog here, and I’ll post them, so others can join you~

Not at all~

I’ll be posting music on the blog, along with our elected DJ slenderhoe, who’ll be spinning their freshest tunes to provide a sweet, modern balance to my personal affinity for 80s jams.

So there’ll be music posted on the blog from the mods throughout the night, and people are also encouraged to submit their own song requests to be posted, as well as links to turntable.fm rooms and the like where you can stream music while group chatting.

Of course, you’re allowed to do essentially whatever you want on your own blog, so you’re free to create your own playlists there and then tag them with “homestuckprom” for all to see~

Oh, that reminds me, I’ve got to finish putting together the autoplay playlist on the blog…
