Homestuck Prom 24/05/2013!
It’s the 24th. The day we’ve all been waiting for. Today is the day of Homestuck Prom 2013. (Or at least, it is for a large number of people. The rest of you still have a few hours.)
We did it kids.
We climbed this whole mountain.
/Sniff/
Now all that’s left is to aggressively party the night away.
I’m looking forward to checking out all of the sick outfits you guys’ve put together, and partying with you guys over the course of the night!
So get ready to start sending your song requests, photos, chat links, etc. later tonight. Set up your Skypes and your Livestreams and Synaptops. Break out the prom dresses and makeup sealer. Let’s do it to it.
And most importantly, HAVE FUN, YOU GUYS.

And now, on a more serious note…
This night has all of the potential to go down as radical, provided we all expend the effort, you dig? Shyness is killer, and it prevents people from doing shit they’d otherwise find enjoyable. Believe me, last year I spent the night trembling and huddled under a desk with a box of cinnamon toast crunch, and ended up missing out on a lot of the evening, which is a big reason I took on the role of blog moderator this year~ My point is that I don’t want any of you to make the same mistake, as I know how many of you are rather shy and awkward. It’s much easier to hide from things that make us uncomfortable, rather than deal with the reality of being really awkward and nervous and fucking up. But it’s no good to sit around working yourself into a panic when you could be having a gr8 time, to the max. So I lend you this kernel of advice, kids, throw yourselves headfirst into the deep end. Get into it. Y’know?
In the words of a an anime plot summary I once read, “You can’t catch fish if you don’t go fishing, and you can’t make friends if you don’t at least try.”

Voting will be opened until 11:59 PM tonight, at which point I’ll officially close the polls to tabulate the results. If you’re concerned that your candidate might not be winning, NOW’S THE TIME TO SEND IN THE TROOPS. And by send in the troops, I mean, a small army of people you’ve convinced to vote for your choice of candidate~

However, before the big night this Friday, there are still some things we need to get out of the way!

Hey ho, my children, Prom is fast upon us like a hurricane, or a horny dog. Spirits are, (hopefully) high, and the blog is about to get busy as all hell.
However, before the big night this Friday, there are still some things we need to get out of the way!
1. Dance-Off Submissions: I’m going to start putting the dance-off video together today, so if you have any more dance submissions to send in, please do so, and fast! Lots of variety makes for a good video, and while the ones we’ve got so far are good, there aren’t more than ten of them.
2. Prom Court Campaign Submissions: If you haven’t submitted a campaign video, or powerpoint, or informative texpost or something, you can still do so~ We’ll keep accepting videos ‘n’ shit as long as you keep sending them!
3. Hey, Mister DJ…: So last year we had no DJ, which seemed to work fine. People were content to submit their own musical material then. But I did swear on pain of death to amp it up somehow, so this year, we’re doing things a bit differently~ Namely, we’ll be having an unofficial DJ, I guess. Someone to spin the best and most fitting tunes on the blog all night long for your listening and grooving pleasure~
To send a DJ “application”, simply show us what you’ve got. Drop us a message with a playlist of your top twenty song picks for Homestuck Prom, and if I’m feeling that your musical tastes seem appropriate and groovy enough to serve us, you’ve got the gig! You’ll be in charge of posting your tunes and song requests on the blog~
As for everyone else, don’t get antsy, you’re still encouraged to submit song requests, your own prom playlists, or links to turntable.fm rooms etc~ We’ll be accepting and posting song requests, pictures and prom posts all night long, so as long as you submit them, we’ll post them~
4. Promstuck Meetups: Feel free to submit existing Homestuck Prom (or general Promstuck) meetups to this blog. There isn’t much activity on the IRL blog, so if it’s a meet that’s planned to happen, send it here, and we’ll promote it!
5. Prizes: This year, we’ve decided to present the winners of Prom Court with more tangible awards for their victory. Stay tuned for a post on exactly what sweet loot your Prom Court will be receiving~
6. Voting: Voting for Prom Court ends in two days! Get your votes in while you still can~ The way the polls are looking at the mo-mo, it’s neck and neck between a couple of candidates! The race is on, and it’s the final stretch, so go vote now!
Remember to keep reblogging flyers and other info and promoting the event!
